DPN™ (powder for IV infusion)
Contains per vial:

Diphosphopyridine nucleotide free acid hydrate 0,5g Pharmacological classification: A.9 Medicines against alcoholism.

We emphasize that DPN™ is only an adjuvant in the treatment of alcoholism. After the nervous system has been detoxified by the administration of DPN™, the craving for alcohol disappears, which gives the psychiatrist or psychologist a better chance to treat the patient.

Diphosphopyridine nucleotide (DPN™) is a naturally occurring co-enzyme, also known as NAD (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). It is distributed normally throughout the tissues of the body and the highest concentration is usually in the liver. The main function is to act as a hydrogen carrier in anaerobic and aerobic oxidation and fermentation processes throughout the body.

Proprietary name (and dosage form):
[DPN™ (powder for IV infusion)]

Composition:
Contains per vial:  Diphosphopyridine nucleotide free acid hydrate   0,5g

Pharmacological classification:
A.9 Medicines against alcoholism

Pharmacological action:
DPN™ is a co-factor, which is responsible for the accelerated dehydrogenation of alcohol and acetaldehyde. The toxic metabolites of alcohol, such as acetaldehyde and aceto-acetic acid, are therefore removed from the nervous system.

Indications:
For detoxification in the excessive use of alcohol, amphetamines, barbiturates, opiates and other analgesics. For the prevention, alleviation and removal of the acute and chronic symptoms associated with alcoholism and drug abuse

Dosage and directions for use:
0,5 - 1,0g of DPN™ is dissolved in 200ml sterile sodium chloride solution (0,9%) and administered slowly by intravenous drip. The solution is administered on a daily basis and administrations can be repeated several times, depending on the toxic state of the patient. The normal rate of infusion should range between 20 - 140 µdrops/minute,
depending on the tolerance of the patient.

Side effects and special precautions:
Please ensure proper mix of the solution. Do not exceed 140 µdrops per minute. Where the rate of administration is too rapid, the patient may experience abdominal discomfort
and shortness of breath.

No drug or chemical agent should be co-administered in the DPN™ infusion line.
